| I researched a lot of information for these pets before jumping in to it and finally got one yesterday..when i pulled him out of the petco box he was quite pissed..to say the least. He was flailing around and clung onto my screen top then i had to pull him off...dude's got some strength
Anyway what i'm here about is the bulb that i purchased from pet co...it's a ir red bulb 75w and it warms the tank just fine..but when i turn it on Corbin runs to the other side of the tank to take shelter under a fake plant i have over by the water bowl. In this spot he either just lays there during the day and at night he attempts to climb the back wall for hours on end. I'll turn the light off and he wander around more but when the light goes back on he eventually (slowly) wanders to that shaded spot by the plant. Is he too hot? should i get a lower watt bulb? or is the light bugging him? it is an IR bulb sooo..from what i read these are ideal any input would be steller
thanks Chris | |

| I think he's trying to tell you, he's to hot. Since I don't know how large the tank is and how moist you keep it, it's really hard to say. What is the temp inside the tank? I don't have any lights over 25w in any of my tanks and they stay between 75 at night 85 during the day. | |

| i dont know cuase i keep my tank between 78-90 degrees 90 on hot days usually 82...now i know not to get a 75 watt bulb...... what size is your tank ???? 75 watts would seem alot for a 10 gallon if thats what it is. | |

| If it's too hot, you could vary the distance of the infra-red heat bulb to your enclosure. e.g. shift it further away from your tank. | |

As long as you have always water in the false bottom, humidity should not be an issue.

Xian, If you give him another platform to climb higher, he will do that wall climbing stunt on a higher ground, that's all. It is just never ending. It's normal that scorpions will do the wall climbing thing in their enclosure. It's their way of exploration not does not equates to discomfort. He will do just fine

+1 And risk for injury would be higher as the scorp could fall down from a greater height.

| i have the cork bark wall in my enclosure and it goes from the ground up to the screen so when she gets to top she cant go any farther.. I did it so it hides the wall and the light chords plus it adds to the look.
Its also pretty neat watching them climb it. My Emp will climb up the wall after roaches.... very aggressive and they both are very fast lol. I watched her use her tail for leverage the other day she caught on between the wall and the branch i have n the enclosure and she used her tail by pushing it against the branch pulling herslef back to pull the roach off the wall it was wild wish i coulda caught it on camera.
