| Another good tip for macro photos is to keep the f/stop below f16. | |

| For better sharing, are you able to elaborate on what happens when f/stop gets higher to 18 and above and what is achieved when it is kept below f16 (while all other factors remain constant) ? | |

| As a general rule you should use an f-stop no wider/ larger than f/16 to get all or most of the main subject in focus. Copy and paste from National Geographic photo tips | |

| Correct, that has been advised, anything above f/16 may cause lens diffraction. However, it depends on the subject that we are shooting. There are no magic f/stop settings. Usually i will just do a test shot on my subject and review my photo through the LCD display on my DSLR....if it doesn't turn out the way I wanted, I just adjust accordingly. With a strong lighting source, I do go beyond f/16 for my shots. For example: Smallest aperture (biggest F stop) gives the deepest Depth-Of-Field Fastest shutter speed provides crisp sharpness to images Lowest ISO gives finer quality The above settings tend to be inversely proportional and has to be separately adjusted according to the environmental condition surrounding your subject. The best rule i believe is to shoot, review, adjust and shoot again! And of course, whichever settings that works well for the shooter | |
