Nice. I love all subspinipes. Especially yellow and orange leg!
Thanks, stingray.

Well Cody, what are you looking for in the pede?
Care is pretty easy. Just make sure there are no gaps that the pede can escape through. Really, if it can fit it's antennae through, it will try it's best to get out. The tank should have a secure, tight fitting lid, make sure the pede can't push it up. (It may sound unlikely, but they are quite strong.) If you have any specific questions regarding their care, feel free to ask.
"Veitmanese giant" is most likely what this is, a Scolopendra subspinipes dehaani. It's one of the most commonly kept species.
Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans is communal.
Some places to buy centipedes from are: http://www.kenthebugguy.com/, http://www.swiftinverts.com/, and http://shop.bugsincyberspace.com
You could look in the classifieds section on here or on another forum for other species.

A few more pics of my S. s. dehaani:
On a slightly different note, I was recently told that Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans was synomized with Scolopendra subspinipes subspinipes during Schileyko's (2001) "New data on chilopod centipedes of Vietnam" http://chilobase.bio.unipd.it/search/result_subspecies.php?TaxId=409&post=1& I hadn't noticed this before, so I started looking for more information.
I did some searching and found a few papers. A key and annotated list of the Scolopendra species of the Old World with a reappraisal of Arthrorhabdus (Chilopoda: Scolopendromorpha: Scolopendridae) (2010) This publication stated: "Chao & Chang (2003) raised S. s. multidens to full specific status and suggested that S. s. mutilans L. Koch 1878 recorded from the Malay Peninsula, China, Taiwan, and Japan may be a young S. s. subspinipes. They also suggested that S. s. japonica may be a subspecies or geographic variant of S. multidens but subsequently Chao (2008) suggested that it might be a separate species. Schileyko (2007) confirmed the identity of S. s. mutilans with S. s. subspinipes (the only character separating S. s. subspinipes and S. s. mutilans is colour: S. s. subspinipes with head and tergites brown, olive or yellow-ish brown with dark green posterior borders to tergites, S. s. mutilans with head and first tergite red, the trunk olive brown). He regarded S. s. multidens as synonym of S. s. subspinipes but the status allotted it by Chao & Chang (2003) is here maintained."
These articles are older, and basically state that in the case of Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans, it may be a young S. subspinipes subspinipes, because they only differ in the color of head capsule and body size. Revision on Scolopendromorpha (Chilopoda) from Taiwan (2002) The scolopendromorph centipedes (Chilopoda) of Taiwan (2003)
As far as I could tell, the 2001 paper by Schileyko was not mentioned in any of the publications above.
Perhaps the authors of the above publications were simply unaware of the Schileyko 2001 article?
So basically I'm wondering when Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans was synomized with Scolopendra subspinipes subspinipes. Was it in 2001 or 2007?
Also does anyone on here have the following papers? If so, what exactly do they say regarding the synonymy of S. s. mutilans and S. s. subspinipes?
Schileyko A.A. (2007) "The scolopendromorph centipedes (Chilopoda) of Vietnam, with contributions to the faunas of Cambodia and Laos. Part 3" Arthropoda Selecta
Schileyko A. A. (2001) "New data on chilopod centipedes of Vietnam" Biological Diversity of Vietnam. Data on zoological and botanical studies in Vu Quang National Parek (Ha Tinh Province, Vietnam)
