| hi all , just returned from a little holliday in sunny ayia napa (cyprus , just before i left i read an article saying that there was black widows living on the town squre, ive been there a lot of times before , but never noticed any of that kind , i use to look for all kind of reptiles , and mantids , and stuff when i am away , but this time im pretty shure ive found them , A LOT OF THEM , actually if it is black widows i could have collected them in hundreds each night , there where some with white pattern , and some brown , and , black , but all in common , was the red time glas on the belly , i toke some photos and hope you can help me , is it black widows , and if it is , what kind lacrodectos ? ,what , like mactans or what . and now for some photos , thats all for now, thanks in advance | |

| These are not yet adult or geometricus. Are they black or brown? Black everywhere? | |

| the first photo (with 2 of them , they where all black , but some of the others are dark brown , most of them i found where dark brown , some of the smaller had white pattern , and the biggest i found (the first photo ) was all black/michael | |

| The males around here are smaller and brown in color... The females I've seen have always been a nice glossy black with the red hourglass like in your photos! However, I have seen some very dark brown females around here...

| Dark ones are prolly mactans or hesperus. The thing is, they are from the US normally.... Tredecimguttatus have red on their backs too... not only on their belly.
How big are the adults?
The brown and striped ones need another moult to adulthood | |
