| I have a male & female imp. They have been together for almost a month now, but still aren't getting along as well as I thought they would by now. Is it possible she's not receptive to him because she is already pg? Her appetite is voracious and she has dug her own hide away from him. | |

| Being gravid could be one of the reasons why a sexually ready adult female is not receptive to a male of similar stage. Do you have any background info about her? E.g. she's from a store housed communally with other adults? WC? Pictures of the pair (when you have the chance) will be good | |

| The male I got at a flea market. I got her from Petco. She was group housed. In fact I picked her out and was able to show the clerk the difference between males and females. She seemed to be quit cozy under the fake log with the other imps, but all she wants to do to my male is sting his butt and get away from him.
Thanks for the input! | |

| I would say there're high chances that she's gravid from a communal setup with males. It's probably inconvenient for you to post some pics as you would have by now (if you can) but I think its good for you to keep an eye on them as much as you can. I've lost a male to a gravid female due to her hostility to almost anything that moves around her (H.spinifer). Meanwhile.. provision of more hides will be good and keep the humidity up. Anyways.. keep us posted | |

| Maybe its the picture of just me, the telson's color could use a more darker red for adult female. If it is as we wished, an adult female.. what you might wish to do now is to really plump this baby up real good Additionally, she could use abit more moisture from the substrate. Though the above pics might be taken just before you misted/damped the substrate or it's just the pic. Anyways, you'll get my point.. i'm sure. Good luck!

| Here is another pic of my female. And yes this was before I misted it. I didn't want to scare her off. That is moisture on the glass. I try to keep it between 80 & 90% humidity and the same for the temp. | |

| Well that female shows no visible signs of being gravid. In fact, judging by the milky tan coloration of the telson, I'd say she's still not adult. Telson is usually red on adult Emperors. This is not always true, but is a pretty good indicator. | |

| Thanks for the clearer picture. It's 99% a sub-adult. If i'm not wrong its 1 or 2 (likely 1) molt to maturity. You might wish to get a confirm ID on their sexing as well... | |
