| I don't think there is a difference except that some people just use one or the other to describe the same species. Today I just bought a Centruroides sculpturatus which looks exactly like the Centruroides exilicauda I had bought about 6 months ago for a friend, plus I was told that both are Arizona Barks upon purchasing. | |

| crazy. i read recent studies have concluded through dna and venom toxicity that they are different and the az barks venom is much more toxic. oh the words,oh the confusion. | |

| Def confusing but that was just what I thought and I'm no Centruroides expert I'm more into the L.q's. I'll have to ask a few of my scorp guys , cause now I'm intrigued. | |

| They are 2 seperate distinct species...its not just location & venom (which can vary in strength within the same species) they are genetically different from one another. I could bore you to death with taxonomy or post links to the abstracts if you want, but Im not sure Im ready to bare my nerdy side..lol If interested, let me know. Excludia=Cali (only) Sculpturus=Az (& elsewhere) | |
