| No worries No idea about the sex, will have to check when it comes out It's not that important I guess, as breeding is not the easiest with these AFAIK. | |

| Yeah I hear that they're not very easy to breed as well because of the defensiveness. I've got a male and 2 female though so do intend to try. I think I can recall Bex trying with hers and not ending too well. | |

| Same as for us poor human males.. Sometimes you get chewed up, sometimes you get laughed at, sometimes you get lucky... whatever happens, stick with your plan and be stubborn lol...
A female got eaten? Not the male??

| That's unfortunate Bex but at least you tried. Maybe a tank that was split in the middle would be good for the Cavis. You could get the male and female settled in either end then just remove the divider so they find each other naturally rather than being removed from their home or being introduced to the others home. Those long clearseals you got would probably be perfect.
LOL @ Pluto. Males are beast compared to females in this species mate.

Yep should be able to get a count up soon when I remove them. Hopefully if I get plenty I can sort out all who has asked. I'll probably grow them on a little though just so I don't leave my self short. It's not his fault Bex! She was probably harassing him, or didn't want to play ball Maybe cavi female are just too stubborn for their own good! I don't know if that's the case always but my male is alot bigger than both my females and I think Bex' is too. Males also seem to have bigger claws. All the better for doing damage with

| I seen a little one having a stroll around the burrow this morning, maybe today could be the day they come off the back.
Should I separate them straight away or wait until they're all definitely off and staying off?

| I would wait untill most are off mate. So you can see them wandering around.. Puts less stress on the mum me thinks. The few on the back you can pick up later or she can eat them... | |

| Ok cheers mate, yeah I think I'll wait until they are all off to be safe. I'm sure I read somewhere that some Het mothers will feed their 2i young. Whether this is true for madras I dunno.
Next dialema is how to get them out of the cork tube burrow lol

| Right I've just seen mum up the front of the burrow with no babies on the back, so they are all off the back and down in the burrow.
Question is what do I do next ?? Do I just pull the cork bark tube up and let carnage ensue, I can't see what other options I have.

| Wow I just put a headcrushed cricket at the start of the burrow and have witnessed and caught on camera some cool behavour. Mum has took the cricket down and fed the young, theres loads down there, just sorting out the pics. Not sure whether split them yet now. | |
