| So i got these 3 emperors about 8 months ago. i'd consider myself a noob compared to u guys but ive been reading this forum for a while. the scorpions r full grown, active at night, and have the right conditions. but they cannot for the life of them catch anything faster that a mealworm. i litterally have to take the back legs off the crickets for them to even have a chance. even then 1 cricket could be in there for 2 weeks before it disappears. any thoughts? maybe just got some really old scorpions? | |

| Might be. Do they have a hide? You have to remeber that P. imps are one of the biggest species in the world and are the heaviest. You see the huge claws on them? THat makes them to heavy to run around hunting for food. They prefer to lie and wait for it. As appose to thin clawed scorpions that are quicker and are actual hunters. If you go without feeding them for a whie they tend to get a bit more "faster". -Eddy | |

| Just to fortify what Eddy said... Don't feed them as often, mabe 1 or 2 crix every other week, these guy can go long periods without eating, I had my whole collection fast over winter 3 to 4 months without eating and 2 or 3 pregger in the lot of them all came into the spring happy, healthy and hungry. PS: welcome to the forum |

| Eddy, I think we need to make a rule about drunk-posting (it's almost as bad as drunk dialing ). Tybob, keep in mind that most of the scorpions we post in videos are the more active species that tend to run down prey and sting the life out of it (literally!). Emps are exciting for their impressive stature and presence, the more active scorpions are exciting for their "action." | |

| the only speed ive ever really seen is from scorplings for food and thats because they do have to sting sting sting because the pandinus imperator babies dont have strong "claws". They have to have speed on their side. But my female adult does just amble about with her "feed me" pose, with her claws sticking out from under the hide. xxxxxxxx | |

| holy (explecit), just got home and one of my scorpions was on the floor! crawled out of the cage and fell like 5 feet. its tail looked all messed up. i have no idea how it could have made it out of the cage.lid is cracked like a half inch and closest spot to the top is probably like 6 inches. holy (explecit)

| Never leave a lid cracked open -- scorps can get a surprising amount of height by balancing on the tip of their tails.
Post a picture of the scorp so we can assess its injuries. | |

| He probably climbed right up and out using the tube in the left front corner.
I had one climb up using the wire cord of a thermometer probe and squeeze out a 1/2 inch gap then fall 5 feet to a wood floor and live under the sofa for 2 weeks before my wife found her.
That is why I now put a clipped & fitted mesh top over the aquarium canopy to ensure I have no escapees. |
