| Haha he will eventually start to like the greens as it matures, they seem focused on livefood when young because they're still growing, keep offering it though.
If only they put on the size a scorp or T does when it moults haha they do grow so fast though, they'll be adults before you know it.

Yeah, i've been keeping always some rucola or other veggies there, pancake seems to love it whenever his in mood for greens. I also alternate with exoterra granulated food, although they haven't showed any interest in it so far. Compared to a green iggy for example, they do grow a fast as a lightning lol

| Not yet. Seems that 10% UV's are out of stock here. I´ll be getting Repti Glo 5´s probably next week until the importer doesn´t get a new shipment of RG 10´s or Sun Glo´s. Iºll jut give them some extra D3 until then and hope I get proper lights asap. | |

| Cool mate I just wondered. I use zoomed repti-sun10 that I read in a UV output test gives out a higher UV output that the exoterro reptiglo but its minimal and obviously depends what you can get hold of there. I've been getting mine off eBay, about to order 3x reptisun10 4ft, not cheap lol. | |

| I just recently became a bearded dragon owner I just couldn't resist haha By far one of the most docile lizards I've owned and very cool to look at. Can't wait for him to grow a bit more. | |

| I've been wanting to post these for a while now, but just can't seem to find the time. I bought a third beardie, this time a girlfriend for my red one. Unfortunately I'm back to 2 BDs. The little fella died lat week. Haven't get him examined yet, but it seems like he was ill from periodontal disease Tomorrow or the day after, my custom made tank is coming, a double 4x2 ft,so the couple will be rehoused. One of the tank will stay free, so I'm considering in getting a P. regius to use the space. - The couple:

| Comparing your first pic of the male with your latest pics really shows his growth. The small one I bought is still very healthy and active. He's so freaking big compared to when I bought him a few months ago. I love the way he sleeps too, curled up like a miniature dragon | |

| He's grown about 7cm in length and pretty much in weight. Unfortunately, I didn't meaure his weight when I got him. How big is yours, did you get to post any pics yet? | |

| I haven't gotten a good pic of him due to time and my camera being misplaced, but I will try. By the way, I was handfeeding him today and as he went in for the mealworm, he missed, biting my finger. I was pretty surprised at his jaw strength, not to mention impressed by his teeth. Have yours ever bitten you? | |

| No, haven't got bitten yet. My small one was quite jumpy and once when he tried to bite me, by reaction I moved my hand out fast an cut myself in a sharp glass corner. Got a 1" nasty cut and missing skin..still have the scar. Should had just let him bite me, lol.
Talking about bites and stuff, here's an interesting article, stating P. vitticeps in fact does have venom glands. I read in other article that the venom is actually crotamine, but I can't find the article now. It's a very weak form or in low quantity though, just enough to paralize prey, so it's not harmful for humans.

| His bite actually hurt a little and his teeth were able to dig into my nail. I'm used to him using his tongue to get to prey, but today he was lunging almost. Dang, a 1'' cut is a decent size.
That is very interesting news. I'll have to read more into though because scientists thought the komodo dragon had venom, then it was deadly bacteria and now it's disputable. The venom glands throw people off lol. That's the last I remember about that research anyways.

| Hey Dolby, have you gotten yours to eat leafy greens yet? Last I read, Pancake was allergic to them lol. I read that they aren't too fond of them at a young age, but mine that I think is about 3 months-5 months old has had his first few bites of collard greens. I think he likes them too, but I fed him during his sleeping hours, so his appetite was probably not all there. I will see if he takes them again tomorrow in the daytime. What veggies have you tried feeding yours and has Pancake been taking them? | |

| Yeah, he has pretty much learned to eat them. At first I needed to hand-feed him the greens, but since I lowered the insects they're getting, he started eating them by himself. He seems to go more for green things although they should be attracted to red/orange foods aswell.
When I took the female, he learned even better as she just eats anything. Usually I feed them Rucola, cucumbers (he seems to prefer these, specially the rucola), bananas, grapes, courgette, cherries, carrot etc.
I also always keep a dish with exoterra dragon food, my female loves it and pancake seems to start learning to eat it bit by bit aswell. Have you measured your BD lately (length/weight)?

| Hey,
I got to doing an informal measurement of my beardie and he's 16-17 inches long. He's about 4 months old too. What do you think? Is that a normal growth level he's showing? I'm not able to do any weighing since I don't have the proper equipment, but he has a bulky build.

| Sounds perfect! Mine are undersized. The male is about a year old and he's just under 14", the female is 2 y.o. and about 12". | |

| Wow, crazy stuff happened with my bearded dragon recently.
First, I came home wanting to take him out for some pics to post here, but instead, I found his cage open and him gone. No one seemed to know where he went, so I assumed he somehow got out. I searched for days looking for him and got nothing. Eventually I found out someone had taken him out and lost him. By now I had thought he'd wandered off somewhere and I'd lost him forever.
Well, almost 2 weeks later, he's found sitting 7 feet off the ground on top one of my trees outside in the backyard. I was ecstatic to see him again, but noticed that his appearance had changed. His head was completely milky white and his body was very dark with shades of gray and black. I'm not sure why this is, but the darker body shade could be to absorb the sunlight. The white head I have no clue. When I tried to grab him, he flared at me aggressively, but I was eventually able to get him inside.
My worries didn't end there though. During his time outside, he'd lost quite a bit of weight, so I had to go about fattening him up again. What worried me the most up until today, was that he has had no bowel movements for several days. I thought he may have had an impaction from eating things outside or he'd gotten some sort of illness.
Well, I took him out today and let him roam around my room. During this time I went into the kitchen to get some olive oil for him to eat in hopes of helping with his digestion since I had tried the warm baths and massaging already. I came back to find him sitting on top of my bed, taking a humungous crap haha. If you're a bearded dragon owner, you know how bad the odor is. I didn't care though, I was just happy to see him getting back to normal. After inspecting the fecal matter, I noticed a large, undigested seed. This seed was obstructing his digestive tract and it's found in my backyard too.
Overall, a happy ending to what could have been a tragic story. Now I can take pics of him!

| Funny story bro. Good it ended up well. The darker body colour is indeed to absorb sunlight better, my iggy used to do it all the time when outside or in front of a window. Can't say much about the white head. My male's head turned pretty light, I would even say yellow (but he is an orangish/reddish one) when I introduced him the female. Could be part of their mating behaviour, maybe to contrast better the black beard. | |
