My Beardies

awesome pics, gorgeous looking things aren't they, i have never seen a red morph! i really want a Rankin, same as Beardies but smaller,

also just posted on the enclosures about lack of climbing/basking things but i see you have only just got them so guess you not got that far yet lol

Yeah, got them last saturday. I'm planning on getting atleasta branch on the big encloure and maybe a flatrock for the basking spot. Need to find a nice desert background for the tank aswell in order to reduce the reflections from the glass.
The little guy will probably not get much decor for now, as after 2-3 months, after he grow enough, he will get together in the bigger tank with the red one.

Nice beardies bro! I have an adult female normal and a sub-adult blood red which both look similar in colour to yours.

I've checked your beardie pics before. They're gorgeous. Do they use much the hideouts you've provided them?

Haha yes I do love a beardie! Been keeping them around 10 years now. My favorite pet lizard to have and I've had my fair share! Cheers about the pics, I'm due to post some more recent ones soon.

A weird thing has been happening with my big adult male citrusXorange german giant lately. He's full of testosterone and has started head-bobbing and foot stomping in his sleep!!! I need to find out more about it. I'll be laying in bed and hear a knock knock knock and there's my beardie head banging in his sleep, weird!

As for the hides they only use them very rarely, but they do love to climb and bomb about on the fake rocks I made, It's always nice to give them the choice though. At least if they want to hide they can but beardies should spend most the day moving about regulating their body temperature. They do sleep in them alot though.

Yes, beautiful beardies Bro! I love them! I just can't make the commitment to feed something daily at the moment otherwise I'd have at least a pair! I love them, thanks for sharing and hope to see regular updates as I have enjoyed your posts on them in the past as well!

Aww I just noticed is your red one missing a foot? Maybe your little normal would enjoy a basking log or something.

Yep, the red one is missing a foot and the tip of the tail. It's sad how irresponsibly some breeders keep their animals.
It doesn't seem to bother him though, he can run and climb with no problems.

I'll try to get both their basking places in better shape over the weekend. Shortly after taking the pics yesterday, I found an old heat rock laying around, so I just removed the cable and gave it to the red one as a basking stone, he seems to be enjoying it.

Will figure out something for the little guy as well, just need to either replace the lamp with a weaker one, or connect it to a dimmer, as the basking area now gets to over 45C if I cover the tank.

Yeah it is sad. My old female has a tail nip. Nice one for taking him on and he looks to be doing fine hanging on your arm there.

It is hard to keep the basking temp right, I've got dimming thermostats on all three of mine which didn't work out cheap but coupled with timers on the plugs makes it really low maintainance.

I've heard of these and seen some online but I can't get them locally.
Did you get yours in the UK?

I friend of mine occasionally imports herps and inverts from abroad as the choice locally is not too great. The red one had been ordered by some guy who in the end decided to take a normal beardie, as he didn't want the guy without a foot.

My friend actually bought for himself both the parents of my red one.

Beautiful beardies, man! I'd get buy one of those brightly colored ones like yours, but they are a little too much for my wallet right now

I actually just checked what the rankins are that you referred before. Those things are super sweet, I wasn't aware of that species.

well i only found out about them coz our local store and i know the lady that runs it, just said i would love beardie but they are too big and she recomended rankins
