| nice scorpion i would suggest that you switch your substrate to cocoa fiber . u should also make it moist . what you have seems to be way to dry.and i am no expert but it think that you shouldnt use this gel as a water source. put some water in there | |

| Thanks for the info! That is cocoa fiber but I also added some moss to it and blocked most of the vents with plastic wrap. I mist him daily. But again thanks for the info. | |

+1 that does not look like cocoa fiber looks more like very dry cocoa husk and wood chip, humidity need to be at 70% it should look moist and be a nice dark colour like this... and deffo switch to water emps will often submerge themselves fully in there water if they are given a big enough dish great looking emp

| Nope no wood chips. Can't they drown if you use straight water. I have never seen an emperor fully submerge itself in its water. | |

| Also if they are submerging themself isn't that a sign that the cage humidity is to low? | |

| Thanks for the info everyone. I think I corrected the problem I have blocked most of the ventilation off with plastic wrap and added a bunch of moss as well. Also is better to mist the whole enclosure or just half of it? I've only been misting half. | |

Yeah they will given the chance it's cool isn't it! And they don't do it because the set up is too dry, it just something they do it's been said plenty of times on this forum to give them a big enough dish so they can fit in, but a pool is an awesome idea post some pics!!!

| And on the misting thing I dump water about once a week and mist swell just to make sure the whole tank is moist | |

| What is a false bottom setup? I went and dumped some water in his cage. I haven't taken out the water gel crystal things yet though. | |

| I would do what iitamadochi1 has done with pipes rather than gravel though scorp will dig all the gravel up when burrowing and it makes the tank messy also make it extremely heavy to move if you need to | |

| Another way to do an easy false bottom is take larger pebbles and a screen cut out from something like a screen door, make a layer of larger pebbles and rocks on the bottom and lay the mesh on top of it. Then make a tube of any sort going from the bottom of the tank through or on top of the mesh for refilling the false bottom. The mesh will stop the scorp from burrowing into the pebbles or gravel. | |

| I would do away with the moss, and lift the log up a bit. If you can, I would maybe see about a bit of a bigger setup for him, but other then that not bad. | |

| looks good but i would suggest that you use moss in one or two places not all over the tank. and the size of the tank is fine for one emperor. | |

| The moss just isn't needed, and it doesn't go well with the setup. As far as the size, the reason I said a bit bigger is because he really has no room to forage. The depth(front to back) isn't a big deal, but the width could be wider, it's not going to kill him or anything if you don't but I would try to put him in something bigger. As far as more cocoa fiber, that's fine with what you have. I can't see how deep it is, but I would at least have minimum of 3" because with the room he'll end up burrowing. To maximize the kritter keeper space, if you go to a walmart and get the flower pot tray(the thing that the flower pots sit on that when u water it doesn't drain all over) and turn it upside down and make him a little hide in the corner then cover it up. The tray I'm referring to is: and it comes in different sizes, just get the appropriate one. I've bred Emperors for years btw, and I've never had one die without the age factor playing a part. | |

| there is nothing wrong with moss. i guess that i would not use it all over the cocoa fiber because in my opinion it looks cooler if its only in couple of areas. | |
