| I found a orb weaver in my backyard in Sacramento CA. I have no photo atm but it appears to be about the size of a nickel when all its legs are out and its walking, its orange with little hairs ALL OVER and it appears to have what appears to be horns on its abdomen. I was curious if anyone knows how long it would take for it to spin its web. I caught it this morning at about 10am and its been in its new home since then and its non 9:30pm and still no web. I took 2 sticks and put a rubber band in the center of them to form a X so it can spin a web between the sticks. Anyone has any info please give. | |

| I got a container that is about 8 inches tall and about 3 wide and its that all the way around. Its plenty of room for the spider as long as he builds his nest, ill put crickets in there for him. Pull the legs off them so they cant fight in the web lol | |

| how big of a tank you have it in. the fact that garden & orb weavers make larger webs compared to most spiders i have found this out from my breading project with Argiope trifasciata. once i put the female in a larger space not only did she build a killer web she had made a very large egg sack all in one night so i think they need room so they do not feel cramped. by no means am i an expert or any thing i am just going by what i have learned from my experience so i hope this helps. | |

| The orb weavers I've dealt with have made some pretty large webs. A tank that has more height than length would be better, I think. I'm having a hard time finding any care info on them though. | |
