Baby crickets? Empty
PostSubject: Baby crickets?   Baby crickets? Empty8/18/2010, 1:31 am

Hi all,

i was doing a substrate change today, and I noticed a few tiny bugs in the old substrate as I removing it. When I got a real close up look at it, it was what has to be a cricket, a fraction of the size of a small ant. I will have to assume that the crickets in the habitat were doing the nasty while they were waiting for 'Brutus' to get hungry? I have never seen a model looking cricket that size lol, almost adorable. Anyway, is this common? Is there a downside to this? Just leave them be if they are in there since they are the main food source anyways? Thanks!

Crickets like to have babies and they do it very often haha
It's a very common event and the downside may be that there will be so many your scorpion will get stressed from it.
My scorpions never had an issue since the crickets didn't enter their burrows.
I wouldn't count on them being a food source because they take a very long time to mature.
They will most likely be too small for your scorpions to capture and eat.
It's probably worse to have adults crawling around in your tank though.
