| So I was right about TWO scorpions of mine I thought gravid so far. This morning I woke up and my B. jacksoni had tiny little passengers. I think she might have eaten one, but the others are on her back and look good. I dont want to disturb her so I haven't done anything other than 'peeking' into the side of her container. Anyone want to give me specific care tips for these tiny babies?
As for my V. carolinanus who had the babies in August there were 16 in all. They have hit atleast 2nd instar and are all in their own tiny pill bottle containers. Sadly, 5 have died in the past two days, but the rest are alive and active. I hope they make it. As for feeding, I've found out they do really well with termites. I don't use the soldiers and I crush the heads of the others I put in and they happily gobble them up. =)

| Keep the scorplings like the parents, but more moist and at a tad lower temperature. I wouldnt separate them too soon.
If you did, try to feed them and they should be ok.
The scorpions are 2 instar the moment they get a sharp telson and leave the parent.
Afterward they will turn instar 3 and that is the stage i think yours are actually at now.

| No worries, I know not to remove babies until they are off of mom and wandering around on their own. I didn't move the V. carolinianus until I saw that happen. That's how I know they are 2nd instar, I didn't think they were already at 3rd, but would be GREAT if they were. I've fed them atleast 3 times since they've come off of mom and they eat each time. I took a pic of one of them. Also some not so great pics of the mother B. jacksoni and her babies. Ill take better ones if she comes out on her own later, but Im not bothering her right now and I also have no plans of trying to move babies from her until they are off her wandering around on their own. | I'm happy to report the jacksoni brood is doing just fine. Momma is eating well and I haven't seen her eat any other babies aside that one the day they were born. And I have not lost any more carolinianus' either. I think I have finally found the right 'formula' for keeping those guys alive. =) | |

| Well all of my baby scorps are off of their moms. 11 V. carolinianus and 26 B. jacksoni in total. All are doing well, eating on their own and both moms are also doing good. I swear after the last three got off of my B. jacksoni mom she seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. Haha. | |

No. I had crushed one of the heads and set it in for momma like usual. Instead of eating it I heard noises and looked and she was shaking her tail around. Looked again and she was under her hide and three of her babies (the only ones that were left on her infact) were on that piece of wood eating the cricket. So I simply put the wood into a container with the other babies who I had taken out earlier today. Crushed a few more cricket heads to see if the others wanted to join in the feasting.

| A good idea when you get B.jacksonii scorplings is to seperate the mom from the rest of your scorps, into a smaller container, up the humid abit and give her a dead cricket to eat. When the scorplings have turned to I2 and have harden, use a small makeup brush to remove them from the mom and put them into small seperate containers and keep them at high humid ( higher then normal ) and give them really good ventilation, the commen mistake with B.jacksonii is drying out and bad ventilation. Then just feed them alot | |
