PostSubject: temporary housing   temporary housing Empty7/25/2010, 11:17 am

Im visiting family right now and last night I bought an emperor at the local petshop. Everything I need for it is at home 9hrs away in Michigan, which means I have no heat lamp or heat pad with me. Where Im at currently, Tennessee, the temps inside the house have been in the mid 80s as well as the humidity. I know what I have the emp in is fine but its on only a few inches of a mixture of peatmoss, coco fibers, and few other things with a small water dish but no hide. My question is, from the little bit of info I was able to give, should my emp be fine for a couple more days until I return home? And should it be fine in a 9hr car ride home? Any answers are greatly appreciated.

Well considering Im going back home in a couple days, where I have everything I need and then some, I dont really want to spend the money on one here. So what I was trying to ask is should it be fine for a couple more days until I can get it everything it needs? It along with many others where kept in horrible conditions at the pet store, bark substrate, no hide, and very low humidity, so I assume what I have it in now must be much more comfortable that what it was in.

It should be fine.

You don't need to buy a hide, just make one - anything that works will do. A small plant pot or something will do.

i know you will be home now but for future reference bits of card or scrunched up paper of even a smashed brick works really well

I also live in the god awful tundra wasteland of Michigan. When I went to my hometown for a couple of days here is what I did to fight the cold (I live in a college town house where we don't use heat). I used a space heater to keep the room temp up, and the heater has a fail safe if it gets too hot, and kept the room at a constant 80 degrees. The other thing I did was put my heat lamp on a timer set to turn it on for 14 hours and shut off for 10 hours during the night. Those kept my scorp warm for the four days i was gone.
