Hello, i have a question on these Opistophthaimus boehmi - Tri color
I have looked on the net for the caresheets on these scorpions, i found one link, but it didn't tell me too much.

Do any of you here knows anything about these scorpions, and housing.

I usually do my homework on something i have never dealt with before, but i thought i would go for keeping these aways .

thanks for ya time
Mark

you're spelling it wrong buddy, it's "Opistophthalmus". there isn't much info readily available about them. they are burrowers and are known to stridulate with their chelicerae...that's all I've got for ya. link below

I can't find that species exactly but the book Scorpions by Manny Rubio and some online sources say temperatures of about 80F with moderate humidity. The book says low humidity while the online sites say about 70%. They make elaborate tunnels but I suspect the more it burrows down the more humid it wants it (If I forget to spray my redclaw he digs through the false bottom). Moderately aggressive which I now interpret as "The venom won't kill you but don't be shocked if it stings." Expect the scorpion to be decent sized, 5 inches give or take. Just as the name implies it's going to burrow like crazy.

Okay There is almost no difference in O. boehmi and A. pockocki. It's even really hard for me to tell them apart. I keep them under the same conditions and I was planning on making seperate caresheets for these guys but the differences would be so minor that you can use this one.

I have one.
Keep it around 80 degrees. Spray it sometimes, have a waterdish.
It burrows.

That's probably all you need.
Peat moss mixed with sand is good substrate, or just peat moss.

Firme, these guys are cool, but mine is fat due to it's gravidness. I wanted a skim one since it's metasoma to body ratio is cool, but since mine is big as beep its metasomas look little with it's gravidness

I actually prefer the A. pococki better. They're a bit more fiesty and look almost identical. But hey you gotta love your local.

Eddy, so far the pococki is lilmore fiesty to the boehmi

and i do have to agree with ya on loving the natives (locals)
most people just throws them off to the side and get things from other countries.
These natives through out the US are unappreciated. From my exprerience these natives tend to be more bold and tends to chase down their prey more tham the ones i ever had kept from overseas. Now i haven't had a large number of species from overseas, just going by from what i had kept.

All and all, i say these natives here ROCKS HARDCORE

I think it has to do with habitat. The pococki have to be a little more defenseve around the predators around here in Los Angeles. Predetors like Hollywoodius tourismo and other feared natural predators. Razz
