| I have heard that flourescent lighting is bad for emperors, that it can cause death if exposed over time to it. Has anyone else heard this or know if this is true or not? I'm not sure why they said it would harm them or how. Anyone else know? Thanks. | |

| Scorpions are negatively phototactic meaning they don't like any light whatsoever. Unless you want to use an infrared one, take the bulb you are thinking of/are using and discard it.
The ONLY two heat sources recommened are:
1) Heat mats 2) Infrared bulbs because although it is still dark to them, they can still feel the heat coming off the lamp.

Where did you read this??? i have been using flourescent lighting with scorpions for years now with no effect.. and i doubt that UV light gives them calcium. Have heard of experts talking about long exposed time to UV light can maybe damage they chitin plates. But i dont think any really proof have been made.. | |

| From what I've seen, it's just a annoying to the scorpion. Mine tend to scurry back into the burrow. | |

| yeah, the UVB only provides a way for some reptiles to process calcium through D3. so, i am guessing that having the scorps in a room with flourescent lighting is ok. that makes life easier for me! | |
