| exactly... although now, when the bigger male gets too close and i think hes gonna pinch me, i just flick him on the pinchers or flick his head and he backs off long enough for me to refill the water, clean the bowl, or remove body parts... | |

and i have no idea why my scorpions happen to be the weird ones? i guess like humans, no 2 scorpions are the same...

| What do you have for hides? if you make it so there is just enough room for your scorp and whatever the roof is, they will burrow to get more room inside of there hide | |

| Well if you make all the hides so that he can bearly fit in there, and keep them almost full of fibers, they will dig it out to make enough room until they are comfortable. Thats what i did and both of mine dug there houses out until they were comfortable. | |

| oh both of them love the hides i made for them... the 1st scorpion doesnt really like the half log hide anymore cause i moved the fake leaf that coverd it, but they love the caves i made cause they can hide perfectly in a dark spot in the corner =) | |

| I read the first page and have this to say to the OP:
Deaths happen randomly. Don't beat yourself up over an unexplained casualty.
Aside from the substrate, your setup was fine, and I doubt using moss instead of soil would contribute to her death.

| Hi Mr. Mordax,
Thanks for the reply, do you think it could have been the heat lamp that killed it? Some people seem to think that could have been the culprit (even though I did put a hide at the lit end, and the temp only rose to as high as 86F)
And could it have been molting problems that killed Rose? She was my first Emperor, I've no experience with molting whatsoever but I did notice that she was extraordinarily bloated before she died.....you can see the wrinkly stretched out skin in the body pics.
Thanks in advance!! | |

| She may have been in premolt, but the only time I've had a scorpion die from molting complications, it made it out of the exo first. Then it died and never hardened.
I doubt it was the lamp, if you say it was only 86F and I saw you had suitable hides.
