| It's all happening for me in scorpion world!! WOOP! 99% sure it's giving birth as I type this! I have left her quietly, and given the tank a bit of a spray to make sure the babies dont dry out (I'll make sure it doesn't stay humid in the long run). So pleased! These babies are apparently hard to raise in captivity. If anyone has any tips, I'd be greatful. I have raised P. imp babies before but that's it. Specially about humidity... do I keep them dry, for the mother, or humid, to aid scorpling moulting? I'll update with pictures later today | |

| I bought four scorplings 1 1/2 - 2 years ago when they was about one month old. I lost two but the other two seems doing well.I have always kept them dry and I really mean dry. Think I have add 2-3 drop of water 3-4 times in all the time i have had them. They get what they need from the prey,I think. I heard about 6-7 years before they reach adulthood.Don't know if thats true but they are defently a slow growing sp. | |

Yeh, that's how I am keeping the adult, but I am worrying about the babies moulting? Specifically the crucial first couple of moults...

| The two I lost earlier was not cause of bad molting (dont know the reason to there death) But lets see what some of the specialist here have to say.It cant be the first time someone gets babies from that sp. BTW...Congratulation with your brood | |

| Hard to see anything... but I don't think much progress has been made. Looks like 2-3 still curled up babies are under her, I can't see any (though, there might be) on her back yet. I don't want to disturb too much...
Cross my fingers! | |

Thanks. As it stands now, still not holding out *too* much hope. There are 4-5 babies, I think. Still curled up and not on her back...not sure if they're even still alive. She hasn't eaten them yet. Anyone know how long it can take to give birth in total? My P. imp only took a few hours.

| So, it's been at least 36 hours now, and no babies on the back, and the babies seem dead to me. I have taken them and put them on moist tissue to see if they might be salvagable... but I doubt it. Female is aggressive, but otherwise showing no interest in the babies. Pics: Very dissappointed | |

I know! I'll see if I can get her mated... I know someone nearby with an unsexed S. maesensis, might be a male...

| real shame that. Sorry to hear mate. However, on the up side, it will make it even better when you breed a successful brood in the future. | |

| Those would be stillborns. Sorry to hear. The same thing happened with one of my V. spinigerus last year: At least she ate them the next day so the protein didn't go to waste. :-/ | |
