| I thought it would be an interesting idea if we ranked some of the aggressive scorps, which in turn would help out with people new to the hobby. For example, #1 ......... #2 ......... #3 .......... etc | |

+1 I had a male emperor that you'd swear thought it was an L.q., and I've had an Androctonus amoreuxi that would never venture out of its hide and played dead whenever I exposed it. Also, I think "defensive" is a better word to use in this situation -- scorpions are simply defending their burrows from this gigantic pink monster that their instincts say is a predator. In either case, the scariest encounter I've had with scorpions was probably trying to pack juvenile A. mauritanicus for shipping. They can use the muscles in their metasoma like a catapult to launch themselves out of the tongs.

^^ i agree.
some Heterometrus and P cavimanus shouldn't be underestimated for defensive responses... so far most of my scorps run away, but my H cyaneus trio and my P cavi's always turn to face me! oh and my youngest S maesensis are amazing...they stand so tall with their long thin tails, running around trying to look big and impressive!

dont forget flicking the tail i had three caves. the one was a juvi and was so nice i called it fluffy, BUT the other two were adults and would almost ambush my hand or the mist from the spray bottle, im talking rush out of the burrow with the defense on and trying to take my hand right out:D it was pretty entertaining. also had an emp like that. and a het. spin the caves were just dill holes and the het turned out to be a crabby gravid female, and the emp was a rescue, im pretty sure he was abused a bit by the previous owner.

| my Australian desert scorp (Urodacus yaschenkoi) is a horrible and aggressive little . as a species there supposed to be very defensive but i think my scorp in particular is just a . tried to combine his living area with my blackrocks and he killed one he lives on his own now. Only scorp ive ever had that openly attacks the tongs. | |

| Personally I don't think it would be wise to do such a list I mean,it doesn't show the real picture for a newbee. Some lvl 1-2 scorpions are more aggressive that some lvl 4-5 scorpions. And there is a big diffences in, what some ppl maybe see as aggression in an scorpion, are more a defensive behavior..I think such a list could give a newbee an idea that if he/she just buy an calm scorpion there is no danger (that could be a LQ or Centruroides sp.) and i dont think that they would be a good beginner scorp despite that there are mostly calm.If you know what I mean | |
