| I've been wondering, what if my babies(Heterometrus sp.) moult, would they be vulnerable to their own siblings?

| which means keeping babies in a community tank isn't exactly a good idea? | |

| If you're really attached to them, I'd keep them separate for now. I keep all my emperors together (1 or 2 still have a molt left in them), because they tend to be protective rather than aggressive during a molt and if I lose one it isn't like losing something expensive. | |

| if well fed SOME species will not cannabalize. An example: P.imperator, M.martensii. -Eddy | |

| Your hets should be pretty safe. I've lost one out of five emperors and two out of ten hets, so it seems to hover around a 20% cannibalism rate (for me anyway).
Although for the emp that I lost, I don't think it was post-molt cannibalism, as I found a hardened claw. The only scorpion that I had die immediately after a molt never hardened. | |

| i dont think you can get smaller tanks! But im sure they will be fine! you know you have 4 to look out for so at least you know the numbers. I took my babies away from mother as I had no idea how many there were and she wouldnt even let me spot clean or do ANYTHING in the tank so I couldnt keep an eye on them, which is why I took them away from her! she was too good at being a mummy! xxxx | |

| That's a good thing, no? Now I'm just worried I'll end up with something less than 4 after moults. I only have 4 and 4 isn't exactly a large number. | |

| If you are worried you could always put one in one container each. Like the cricket containers with a small mini hide and some substrate. The only reason I havent done so is not enough room and also as in England wont be able to maintain heat for them xxxx | |

| I have no idea sorry. I would say all well fed then all good to go, but as you only have 4 of the little ones I would put into their own containers. I mean you could still lose one or two to a bad moult. So I guess with scorpions you never can tell. All together they could all be fine and in their own little homes they could all be fine. Do what your gut tells you to do xxxxx | |

| They do fine communally; cannibalism isn't nearly as big of an issue as it is with buthids. In fact, my baby hets and emps all share the same hide all the time. I lift it up and I see a little pile of scorpions. | |

| The best way to keep any scorpion is by it self. But I see no problem keepint your scorpion comunally. Unlike Mike I have kept mines all different sizes and have had no canabalism at all. Not even during molts. -Eddy | |

| For reference, I'm on the "unlucky" end of the scorpion-keeping spectrum. | |
