So, just how many moults do scorpions go through?

I've never actually known this. Bit of info? Species specific? Universal? Etc, etc.

It does vary from species to species, but six molts would be average. Six molts, seventh instar.

its 6-7 emps generally will go to seven for some reason but as street says it does vary alot from species to species i think the forest types (pandinus and heterometerus) are more likely to go to 7 than say buthids which tend to go through molts much faster and to about 6

Buthid go to 7th instar, with the occasional freak (Parabuthus) reaching 8th instar and getting pretty huge.

I have no idea about forest species..

The average is 6, but I've also seen genera like Parabuthus and Centruroides reaching 8i, Buthids reaching maturity an instar early (6i) and the early maturity of genera such as Tityus where many of their males reach maturity at 5i. It's, for the most part, genera specific. I hope this could clarify things a bit.

I have 2 Hottentotta hottentotta that made 8i, they are goliaths compared to their sisters.
