| you could try a heat lamp. This provides more of a sunlight effect on them. My P. Imperator does the same thing your talking about. But I'm pretty sure mine is doing it to try to escape. She generally runs around for a while and then just lays against the glass. | |

| she has never done it before. This is the first time I have ever seen her be still and basically hug the glass. Im tempted to just put the heat mat in the tank...but will wait for some more replies

| You know how cats will curl up over a heating vent, even when the rest of the room is a perfectly acceptable temperature for a housecat? I'm pretty sure scorpions are the same way -- they're just thinking "Ooh! An extra-warm spot!" | |

| Lol, I'm in Malaysia where the temperature is pretty high(too high for my comfort actually), and my scorpions do the same, pressing against the walls of the tank. Therefore, I doubt that 'wanting to get to the heatmat' is the reason.
But there are possibilities. | |

| I will keep an eye on the situation, but if in Malaysia they are pressed to the heat mat then im sure mine are just doing the same. I might move the hide over to that corner then so they are hidden...but then again I can just peek in and see them all ontop of each other xxxxx | |

| No, a heatmat isn't necessary in my country. Hehe. Room temperature is high enough for them. And my scorpions still press against the walls. | |

| I keep alot of scorpions, and my room temp is around 25-27 degrees, and all my scorps is fine, they breed and stuff so you dont need to have 30c in your scorpion tank for your scorp to be fine, 25 is fine allso, mostly with forest sp and stuff, sand scorps might need abit higher, but all my scorps crawl around and sometimes tries to go up the glass, allso found a H. longimanus upside down hanging from her vent net.. | |

| Just went into the bedroom and the heat was like WOOOSH! makes you sweat being in there for 10 seconds and she was still pressed against the glass! Seriously, she must just be having a cat moment and thinking "oh a warmer spot" because seriously, that room is super hot! window now open! too hot for me to sleep in there, I need a bedroom cool! xxxxx | |

| Mine do the same thing. While it is not really that hot in my room (my roommate likes to pretend that he is an Eskimo), their tanks usually reads at around 25-27 degrees. Yet, they have taken to squishing against the glass where the heat from my laptop fan-pad hits. I dont think it is a big deal, it wont kill them. Instead, I would worry more about overheating them. I know they can take high temps (I have heard people giving them time at 100+ degrees F [sorry dont know the celcius for that]), but it is usually too much heat that is the killer of inverts, not too little. | |

| i was just wondering, could you put a heat mat UNDER the tank, but put the heat mat only under about 1/4 of the tank, and not under the hide so it would provide heat, but not grill the scorp if it tries to burrow under the hide?. . | |

| I don't see why you couldn't but heat mats don't provide very good heat dissapation unless you crank up the heat or you have a small enclosure. | |

| Heatmats radiate heat from BOTH sides !!! Place a polystyrene sheet or at a pinch a peice of card or a newspaper covered with tinfoil (shiny side out) [behind the heatmat to reflect the heat back so that only one side radiates heat. | |
