PostSubject: martensii worries   martensii worries Empty8/22/2008, 5:07 pm

I'll copy and paste what i said on some other boards...

Quote :
few things...

first off hello again, it's been a while since i've been on here, had very little time with the new job.

second...

My M. Martensii has been out a lot. I find this unusual. She seems to always be in her hide. I cleaned out her hide and her tank... and she is rarely in her hide lately. Instead, she's either on top of her hide or running around, or near her water dish. I've had water in it and she's been eating very little it would seem.

Any suggestions? I've checked over and over her temps and what not, and she's been fine. Is it a seasonal thing? I've had her for less than a year now. Should I be worried? She looks perfectly healthy...

3rd and lastly I am looking for a Rhopalurus junceus. I know someone on here had some for sale as babies and made me a good offer but i really didn't want to spend money on more than one as I only want one... i checked the for sale place recently and didn't see any. Anyone know where I can get an R Junceus for a good price? Preferably almost adult or full adult. I recently purchased another tank, light, environment tools and all the stuff i need, now i just need the happy little scorp.

With your scorpion. If temps and everything is fine then dont worry.
You answered it all yourself by saying she looks perfectly happy. Sometimes they do things that we think arent normal. They like to do this to freak us out.

And eating very little. seriously. this is what scorpions do. sometimes they will eat every week and then for months will fast.

I dont know about a R Junceus. sorry

Well, she usually eats every 2 weeks. Emperor sometimes once a week or every other week. Last 2 times i've schedule fed them, she hasn't eaten...

I'll just keep a close eye on her.

This is normal behaviour.
They can eat every week, twice a week for months and then decide they dont want any food.
Dont worry about it. Dont offer food for a week. If she still refuses wait 2 weeks and then try again, then a week after, then 2 weeks until she feeds again.

Scorpions dont eat like cats and other animals do. They can eat and eat and feed like a "normal" animal and then will fast. it doesnt hurt them and wont kill them. They know when they are hungry

Thanks Connie Smile I guess i'm used to my emperor having a huge appetite. I'll just leave her be. She's probably fine.

Venomous that is indeed my 1999 Ducati 900SS before I painted it. One of many of my bikes in collection Smile PM me if you would like to see some pictures of it.

Grats on the new bike purchase, the CBR bikes are very fun.

My pandinus imperator used to eat and eat and eat. two hoppers a week and if she could *and the male* 2 locusts each.
Then she began fasting. I didnt know she was infact gravid!
Even after the birth 4 months down the line she STILL didnt want to eat. I think 2 weeks after the birth she finally had one SMALL cricket and refused again.

They like to freak us out. With the daytime behaviour, odd night time behaviour and being picky about food.

Chances are your grrl is 100% fine! Just wait until next weekend to feed her. If she still doesnt, wait another week. If she refuses again...two weeks...ive had them also refuse after that long break!
When they are hungry they will eat but I guess its just built into us humans that to eat is to live, but they eat months ago and still live and function

If she's a WC female, odds are she's gravid.

oh! didn't know this.... (thank god this doesn't happen to humans!)

She hasn't been fat... well.. not really. I'll take pics when i get home if that'll help.

One thing i've noticed is that sometimes she drags her tail, it's very strange. Only scorp i've ever had that does it. Sometimes she'll walk around and do her thing, sometimes she drags her tail, but she's done it since i got her (we're talking a LONG time now)

No, she always sits with it curled up. I've seen scorps poop, but maybe she has massive poop syndrome LOL!

I've seen a scorp die, my P. Boreus Sad Unfortunately... it's pretty noticeable when they're going out.

If she already clutched, then she's probably just being weird for the sake of being weird. As scorpio said, she's probably wiping her bum.
