| I have 2 emperor scorpions and i'm paranoid at the moment about being stung. I understand that its not bad at all but i'm still paranoid. I'll be glad when i eventually do get stung, but what i waqnt to know is; If a pandinus stings you while handling, will it sting multiple times? or does it just not attack again? I need to know because if its going to sting me then im just going to let it sting me so that i dont drop it or fling it across the other side of the room. If it does sting multiple times is that bad?
Thanks for any help. | |

| the only thing i no is that a scorpion will keep stinging untill it thinks it has done the job but that could be once twice ect. well thats wat the pet shop told me eny way
but emperor scorpions are reli reluctent to sting they would much rather run or pinch quot(emperor scorpions are the most least likely scorpion to defend itself by stinging)

| Ive never been tagged by a scorpion. Ive never been pinched either. Its not something I want to happen so I get used to it. Just avoid and never allow yourself to get into the situation and that fear will go. | |

| I've been keeping scorpions for almost three years and never once had an emp go for me.
When you're handling them, as far as they know your hand is the ground, and it wouldn't make sense to sting the ground. Just don't do anything dumb (like poking them in the face with your finger) and if you tail them make sure you don't leave the telson free to move around.
But to answer your question, most times when I see scorpions sting defensively (instead of to subdue prey), they just flick their sting out and are done with it. If the threat persists they may flick again. The only time I see multiple prolonged stings are during feeding, where they're making sure the prey will quit struggling.

| You shouldnt really be handling your scorp dude and scorpions with bigger claws pinch more and ones with long slender pinchers sting more. I wouldnt provoke your emp to sting you that's kind of mean to the animal. | |

| No one here said anything about provoking a scorpion into stinging -- the OP just wanted to know what to anticipate if / when it happens. | |
