I've been trying to get this little bugger to molt for months. He finally did and he is over twice his size now. Sorry for the blurry pic.

This was part of a little experiment I did. I have two of these guys that were premolt. Both kept in identical containers, but this one was at 50-60% humidity and the other was kept between 20-30%. I would mist the enclosure once a week and concentrate on his burrow. The other has still not molted.

Yay for molt success!!

So did you start upping the humidity when you saw it was in premolt? This could be very useful to anyone attempting captive breeding of these guys.

I noticed that he was gettig close to molting so uped the humidity. It still took several months for him to molt. There as about 2 1/2 inches of sand/dirt mix that was wet and aloud to dry. On top was a large flat piece of flagstone.

I knew that these guys needed higher humidity to molt.

That is awesome. I lost a desert hairy several years ago most likely due to it being too dry for him to molt. I still miss that little guy. Congratulations! Rockout
