| SQUEEEEEEE!
I'm REALLY excited about this. She's been hiding in her hole for the last MONTH and now, after all this time, I peek in to see her SITTING NEXT TO HER OLD SELF.
FIGURED ID SHARE IT WITH YOU!!
Also, pardon the over excitement. This is my first Desert Scorp, and only the second one I've ever had to molt. AND she's an H. Arizonensis.

| Very cool! I'm waiting for mine to do the same. She's getting fat and I saw her kinda stretching herself out the other day, Standing on her tips with her back bent. Hopefully that's what she's about to. | |

| Mine is going into premolt as well!!!!
So just a few questions:
1) how often did you have the lamp on during this time? 2)how often were you misting?
I'm very happy for you! I hope it has a good long life!

| I kept her Day/Night cycle the same. Turning on the heat lamp at around 8-9am and turning it off between 9-10pm. I also added a heat pad above the location she was hiding in.
The hardest part about this was figuring out what was happening. This entire time she was a good 8 inches of solid sand/clay from anything outside. She buried in her burrow, and dug out that cavern you can see in the picture. There's no way for food or moisture to get to her.
As for misting, not ever. I live in the Midwestern United States - so humidity is already pretty high.

| Great job! Post details on the conditions in the enclosure!!! It is pretty rare to have a successful molt in captivity with these! | |

| So - a sad end to this chapter.
It appears that her skin did not harden properly, and she has passed on. She dug herself into that little hole, but never made it out again. I just dug her out today and confirmed it.
So this is the second invert I've bought from my local dealer that was incorrectly sexed/aged and I will not be returning to them for business.
Ken the Bug Guy will be getting my next order.

| Sorry to hear that!
What makes you think it died because it did not harden? Could she not have died from something else before hardening?
Is there any live food in the tank?

| She'd buried herself a good 10 inches from any opening. After the molt, she was active for a time, but never tried to dig back through her tunnel that she'd filled up.
I saw her weakly scratching at the dirt and the glass, and she died there.
After retrieving her, she had some discolorations along her body. Some spots looked to be fully colored , like she used to look, others looked translucent.
A blacklight confirmed some of that. She had patches that weren't glowing under the light.
I added food every few days while she was inside, but the cavern she was in had no entrance. (She'd filled it.) She showed no signs of Mycosis, and had no visible injuries from the molt.
All I can think of is molt trouble or starvation/dehydration. She was in that hole for a month and a half before she even molted.
