| I got 2 female emperors, and to my eye, they seem to be fattening without being overfed, they don't come out at night like my other scorpions. Once while feeding them, I saw some aggressivity, so I'm starting to think one or both are gravid. I'm starting to think about isolating the biggest one this weekend. Here are a few pictures, tell me what you think. [img] [/img] [img] [/img] [img] [/img] | |

| It's impossible to tell with large forest scorpions unless they're getting close . . . and yours aren't getting close.
How long have you had them? When was the last time they were with males?
Not coming out at night doesn't really mean anything. When they're settled in, they hardly ever leave their burrows.

| i bought them the beginning of november, they were communaly kept in a pet shop, there were males in there I guess, they were 12 or something like that they said. I added a male a month later. They looked skinnier when I bought them | |

| Then it's quite probable, but it's impossible to tell how soon it will be before they pop.
Emphasis on probable -- I think I'm the only person who had a WC female emperor for over a year that wasn't gravid.

| At first, I thought they were overfed from the pet shop, so I started feeding them every two weeks. To my surprise, they didn't slim down, they have gotten slighty bigger, so that's why I'm wondering. | |

| Is it too early to isolate them?? I'm preparing myself to have them in separate tanks if there gravid. | |

| Use your own judgment for that. I'd be paranoid and separate them early, but some people have had females birth in community tanks without a problem -- they just removed the tankmates instead. | |

| stop feeding her. if she continues you get bigger then she is gravid. If she slims down...then she isnt.
My unknown to me gravid pandinus imperator refused food. Ate one small bit and then totally refused until all of a sudden she had babies on her back to my shock! this was about 4 months of fasting
Females also become agressive, more so then this type of scorpion would be.

| Maybe she's about to molt, but I guess she would stop eating also. That wouldn't explain her sudden aggressivity. I guess I'll have to wait some more, I doubt she will give birth in the following weeks, but I just don't want to be caught by surprise with her and the other emperors with the babies. | |

| I put a cricket in her separate enclosure ( she's alone now ) she didn't eat it, took it out today. She looks bigger. I'll try again next week to see what happens. | |
