| I got a few pieces of wood from a pet shop last week, I put a piece in my emperors, red claw and future b.jacksoni's tank. It makes a week there in there. Yesterday when I fed my scorpions and checked on everything, I saw that there was some kind of fungus forming on the lower part of the pieces, where it contacts the moist coco fibre. Is this normal, should I discard them or leave them there. Is there maybe some other type of wood I could use, I find it nice, and is somewhat natural for them.[img] [/img] [img] [/img] | |

| Try washing it, baking it, and putting it back in. That should kill any remaining spores and such. | |

| it will all get fungus every three months or so i have to do it to mine that i had bought, if you do the same procedure,
wash with hot water, dry for a few hours, then bake at 350 for 20 minuets to a half an hour let stand to cool down
to any piece of wood you find and put it in your terrarium

| yeah I've spotted that on my wood before and followed that procedure. But for nooks and crannies I have a dremmel and grind it out just to make sure it has gone | |

i have tried to have i geuss some differnt kinds of fungus infections in my tanks, but i belive as long as they are small and wont fill up the whole tank, your scorp shouldnt be in danger.. i for once just opened a film canister where i keep L.burdoi in and found it filled with fungus but the little guy was kinda happy down there..

| I'm sure the mould wouldn't harm the scorpions anyway, I'm 100% sure they encounter a ton of mould in the wild. | |

| I dont even buy wood anymore. only for the fish tanks. i found some really interesting pieces. i have a whole root system from a tree and its totally hollowed out through the base and roots. tunnels all through it. i love it for my beardy. | |

| 3 days later, fungus is back, but very minimal, I guess that I'll leave it like this, and I'll redo the procedure every month or so, as long as it not exagerated. | |
