| To my big surprise, just a few moment ago, two of my emperors did their "promenade a deux" I believe. My male grabbed the females claws and took her for a walk. It didn't last long maybe 10 minutes. I don't know if it actually worked, I read that the female goes after the male after, and usually kills him. I would like to catch her before that happens and isolate her until she gives birth. But how can I make sure, she was fertilised??
Funny thing, my last topic was about emperors hiding a lot, and today I get to see this! Cool!

| it breaks off into 2 where the female takes the top part of it, so there should still be something left. But sometimes they even eat the orther part so there is nothing left | |

| The female doesn't usually eat the male right after. You should separate them after she starts to look pregnant cause she may kill him then. It's hormonal. Chicks are weird. | |

| No, that was a mating for sure.
I have a Hadogenes paucidens spermatophore stuck to a small piece of slate in my collection, and it's probably about half an inch long or so. I assume Pandinus would be of similar size.
And no, the female doesn't go right after the male in communal species. Although in communal species, gravid females are a little more prone to cannibalism later on (something about perceiving other scorps as threats to their young?) so I would suggest removing him in a few months.
Removing him has the added benefit that separated scorpions seem more, um, interested in mating when they're reintroduced -- so if you separate him in a few months, you could try putting him back in a month. If she's rejects him when you do this, she's probably gravid.
