| I've just started up a communal tank with 4 adults, 2 female 2 male. Before this I noticed an abnormality on one of the females, as you can see in the picture - on the mesosoma the part where the 6th and 7th tergite meet resides at an angle. There is also what appears to be a build up of fluid on the side She is still calm and docile, I can handle her with no problems - she is acting as if it isn't there basically. It was suggested to me she may be a couple of months gravid, which I think is absurd but again I wouldn't know. Opinions? | |

| She is an adult, 8 inches from tail to claw so quite big. it was upon lifting her that I noticed this abnormality, I already had phone in hand so I took a quick shot. I would not cause her any harm on purpose.
She is out now hunting with her tank mates and she seems completely fine so I will just leave her be and see how she does. | |

| no im sure you wouldnt! im not accusing you of anything! if your worried about her then maybee you can keep her out of the communal, i dont think its nececary but if it starts leaking fluids or anything you will need to take her out and glue her up. | |

| She has died.....I'm quite upset about this - her condition just kept deteriorating I moved her to a ICU but nothing..... I beleive she was injured during delivery and was internally wounded and died. She will be preserved though she is a very impressive size and was healthy apart from the abnormality | |

| It looked like an impaction (internal blockage) -- hard to pinpoint a cause and no real cure available. Sorry for your loss. | |

| I ordered them from thespidershop and emailed lee about it, he offered to refund or replace which was very kind of him considering it was neither of ours fault, obviously I chose replace. Not sure on preservation, never had a scorpion die on me but with tarantulas I've always cremated them, without spreading the ashes since there basically is none. All the energy contained within that scorpion released into the universe....sigh it's 03:30 I really should go to sleep. As I said I've never had a scorpion die so either preserved in alcohol or I have seen this hair spray method which I may try. If I do preserve it will most definitely end up with my old biology professor since he always took an interest in the various pets I kept and he would appreciate it even though it is quite macabre I find it strange that out of 6 hides they all chose the same one | |
