Hello everyone last night I got to see two of my Emps mating. This was the first time I have seen this in person so it was very cool.About 10 others saw it on my webcam as well.Guess it was a good idea after all even though it is totally boring 99% of the time
Now time for the noob question.I did find a spermataphore,is there any way to tell if it was successful from looking at it?

Kejser, does that mean that if the white bit is missing, it was successful?

in theory yes, if the female got the upper part of the spermataphore it should be successfull

Thanks everyone the wait is going to kill me...I read on the net it takes about 7 to 9 months. Is this correct?Because somewhere else I read it takes around 18 months. That seems very long.

It can be less then 18 months. I think 18 months is the MOST its ever been recorded at. If the temps are good and the humidity is good, then no reason why it shouldnt happen in 8-9 months. you know when the mating happens so when the birth happens. You will be able to know how long your pandinus took to birth after mating

The main factor is temperature -- warmer = faster developmental rate.

Ok thanks everyone.Another question I have is,since the mating happend the female stands high off the ground sometimes when she is not moving around.I remember reading a post about this somewhere here that it has to do with being to hot.The temps are normal up around 84 to 86 during the day and around 75 at night.

Not necessarily too hot -- just that she's regulating things. It's called stilting.
