PostSubject: Desert tank find   Desert tank find Empty7/28/2008, 7:00 pm

Well I'm back home already but friday night I decided to good to good ol palm springs in search of H. arizonensis and maybe camp out in the desert. Well I found a ton of S. mesanensis but only had about 3 delicups in my car (i thought a had bought a whole new pack) so I just took two. And when i came back home saturday night i found this and a few more in my desert tank. Thats tinier than it looks

I thought I had a picture of the S. mesaninsis on my phone but i guess I didn't . I was gonna make two seperate topics I think i merged them together so i'll change the tittle right now LOL. ANyways I found this one in my H. arizonensis/H.a. pallidus tank. THere so small and the tank is big I cant even find the mom right now or see how many i have in total. I already seperated three. Funny thing is they look like they've been feeding of the roaches I left in there some look like 3I already but I don't think i've been out of my house that long unless she gave birth some time before I left...which is possible.

The one in the picture looks like "pallidus" to me. If you have some of each, I guess that solves whether it's just a color form. Either way, congrats on the kids Very Happy

Sounds like an idea to me. I've got a black light just need a portable light unit. If were lucky we should also find various pandinus sp too, so many have escaped over the years they have colonised in the south... are you old enough to remember when it was in the news a few years ago... we had a heat wave and the emperor scorpions bred like mad. They were appearing in peoples houses and gardens!

That i've seen...three. If i find more than five I'll send some your way. But they are Tiny and....my enclosure is big enought to house 10 full size H. arizonensis. Plus the 8 inches of sand ....and 6 burrows....i probably wont see many of them untill they get bigger.

Well if doesn't get any darker we can cofirm it arizonensis/pallidus. Since it did come out of a arizonensis. So you might be one of the few semi-hybrid owners.
