| Well, I was a bit concerned about Charlie as his beard has been black all day, and I have no idea why. I went to check on him just now and it appears he's feeling slightly better, as I caught him with his lady cactus again! and then... ! Good lord... | |

| I once had a naturally dark female who always had a black beard. She looked like she had permanent PMT! | |

| that is very strange, especially when females presenting the black beard is not seen as much as the males doing it, its possible you had a coastal bearded dragon instead of the normal inland bearded dragon as they are darker, but iv never seen one for sale, probably because most people dont know there are different morphs naturally depending on the area lmao | |

| yeah just a lil too far, but seriously the best 100% safe substrates are tile, repti carpet and non adhesive shelf liner. | |

| i dont mind loose substrates for snakes as much because they tend to be much neater eaters, but for young or messy snakes then solid substrates are much better | |

yeah. if it misses the food and gets a mouthfull of substrate it could be lethal. | |

| Aren't you supposed to take snakes out of their tank for feeding anyway? | |

| you are supposed to, but not for the snakes health the reason most keepers take there snakes out is more because if you dont the snake associated your hand coming in the viv with foos and therefore mght have a taste, however my old corn wont take food unless its in his viv, he never would, and weve never got him to he just leaves it. So it depends on the snake, id rather feed in the viv and end up bitten, than try feed out of the viv and never get food in my snake, however it is just the one corn that wont take out of the viv everything else has always been fine lol | |

| my snakes always pause when i put my hand in... have a taste of my hand then instantly clam down... but they seem to have managed to suss out what day is feeding day anyway. Every thursday they all have their noses pressed firmly to the glass hehe! | |

| With my snakes I use depending on size is containers like meal worm containers up to 2 gal. ice cream containers. I cut a hole out of the lid, and when its feeding time a put the container w/ the mouse in the enclosure, all the snakes will go into them and eat the food without any worries of eating any substrate. So now i can put my hands in the tanks and they dont react but as soon as they see the containers watch out!! | |
