| Hirudo medicinalis: I took some pics of the little sucker but since I deactivated my i cant post them up. Here a pic of what they look like (I get them from Crazy Dave) http://www.crazydavesinverts.com/medicinalis.html Anyways after 2 weeks of trying to feed it I finally got it to get me LOL. Heres some pics 8 hours later after it stopped bleeding. It ended up looking like a little bananna after it finally finished. Definatly one of my favorite pets now I might try to breed them in the future. | |

| I don't mean to necro-post but that's pretty neat! I've seen them before on Dave's website and I thought "who the heck would want to order one of these??" and now I know I'd let it suck the blood out of me. | |

| that's pretty gnarly! how often do they need to feed, and what knid of setup do you have it in? i'd like to see a more recent pic of it now that it has some size to it. we have species here in KS that live mainly on turtles. ive heard some african species get to be 6 feet long that would be a trip. do you have to pull it off, or does it release on its own?

| It releases on it's own but it takes a while I just put it to feed after work. They said that they're amphibious but i had bad luck with half water half soil so I just keep them in bottled water and changed it weekly. THey seem more lively that way. Some weeks i give them more water to swim in and other just enough to cover them. I'll post a recent picture when I get home tonight pretty cool pet actually and you only need to feed it like twice a year | |
