I watched for an hour as the mating dance went on. I even filmed a bit of it.
I saw the male place the spermaphore on the cornerve of the rock and tried pulling the female up and onto the rock where it was. He got close but I can't tell if he REALLY got her in the right place before she backed down the rock, twisted and broke free of the hold.
I noticed the speed sack and stick still on the rock. (Does it stay behind?)
My question is how do I tell for any certainty (sp?) If she collected sperm or not.
The spermaphore looked like a yellowish stick stuck to a clearish white tubular sack stuck to the rock. I later moved both of them into a small box and placed the rock with the spermaphore on it. And the male kept shaking and going after the female like before but she kept running away from him.
How do I know if she was impregnated and does the spermaphore usually stay behind?
