| This kind of research has been going on for a while now and as far as i can remember, the main focus was/is on Rhopalurus spp especially the ones endemic to Cuba......funny thing is, the last time i was reading about this research (maybe a couple of years ago) the article also then made a big deal about how US medical authorities were "extremely sceptic" but no mention was made of whether or not they had done any research themselves.....the story doesn't seem to have changed!.....makes me wonder just what would happen if some small Latin American country did discover a cure for cancer....I'm sure US medical authorities would be acting much the same way they are now!
Oh yeh, i think the blue scorpion is referring to R. junceus....

| Thanks Den, you're right it's R. junceus and yes this has been going on for some time. You make a good point about, what if? I wonder! | |

| You want to know what I think? There probably is a cure for cancer in the United States (obviously, there are cures elsewhere, as proven in the link, and many other credible resources) but the reason why the drug companies don't make it openly available trials is because they want to make money off it. If you have the cure for cancer, you're going to want to make as much money off it as possible, hence why the american doctors are "skeptical", and not contributing to the advancement of this research. Like Den said, they have been skeptical for a couple years now. Gee... | |

| There are so many things in scorp venom it's no surprise that some may be of value. These are cool looking scorps! | |

| There's a lot of studies going on with Chlorotoxin, a 36-amino acid peptide isolated from Leiurus quinquestriatus venom, in regards to treating cancer as well.

| Lol. Coincidentally I was actually doing a lot of research on chlorotoxin for a school chemistry project at the time, so it was a good time to dig them up! | |
