Hi Roy,
I kept a group of these a few years back. They are considered a 3 out of 5...so you don't want to get tagged, won't kill you, but it will certainly take the fun out of high fives for awhile. They are bark scorpions....coco fiber, lots of vertical bark...they need it to molt hanging from it. Keep a third to one half of the substrate moist and the other part dry. They like it warm...30C during the day with a drop at night. Keep them separate until they reach adult...then they can be housed together with very low risk of cannibalism. Get some. They are aggressive feeders come in orange and chocolate color morphs.

No...I've never been tagged, and I don't plan on it. Wink I did have one run over the edge of the container once, they are fast...don't get your hand close to them...they appear more docile than they are. If you search "Babycurus Jacksoni" in the Search box above there are some old threads with more details on how I kept them.

I got tagged, hurt like a burn, but that was all that really happened. They are super fast as previously. Aside from the size of mine, I don't bother them because of the speed. They don't need vertical bark as seen here: http://www.panarthropoda.de/sub/haltung/skorpione/familien/babycurusjacksonien.php. This is a great resource for care.

Royke, they are venomous, don't forget;) all scorpions are venomous.
I would consider this one, a 2 and I consider an Emp 1 on a scale from lowest danger to higher.

Shreddy is right. they don't need vertical bark , but it's fine to give them the option.

As I told you, what is confirmed here, that they have a speed to be reckoned with.
Although they can be sluggish in the beginning they can burst out very quickly, that's why they are regarded as unpredictable sometimes.

I would recommend you to transfer the scorpion with a cricket container, gently nudge it with the tongs into the container and secure it with a lid. I would'nt even bother with holding it by it's telson, you can avoid all that I think, by being careful and perhaps there won't even be a need for you to catch one.

Although B. Jacks venom is not considered as being medically significant, SF user Mako made an excellent video how to transfer medically significant Buthids which was perfected a few times...

I think you might get something out of it anyway Smile check it out here :0

They are gorgeous and play dead sometimes. Sometimes because of their coloring you can actually be looking right at it and not see it. Also they move like lightning once they know they've been spotted. I just picked up 3 and they are vicious hunters taking down prey their size if not larger.

Not as high as Emps...I kept a third to half the substrate moistened...just don't let it completely dry out. A wet side and a dry side works well.

Good luck!

Try to have to do as little maintenance as possible. They will be there one second, and on the run the next. Especially as youngsters.
