As the title suggests this is of my first scorpion which is believed to be a Heterometrus Mysorensis

My First Scorpion + Cupboard Conversion Project Scorp1
Lookin pretty cool.

Immediately hid under this:

instead of the coconut hide provided, don't blame the little guy though Razz

Then we have my cupboard conversion project (for now everything is ammeter plastic converted tubs and storage boxes with some more Faunariums on the way, until I can afford to buy up a nice full glass display collection.

The Faunarium will be used to house my 2 x Heterometrus Laoticus whilst they're young and then I shall upgrade them to a nice large glass tank.
I've begun the acquiring of numerous cheap plastic pots and tubs, some filled with substrate just to satisfy my own mind and trick myself into believing I've more than I have Razz

Here is what I'm working on wiring up for my expected 3 x 70cm heatmats that I shall work out a fixture to the back walls with numerous electronic thermometers and hydrometers, not to mention habistats on the way to maintain the correct temperatures, I also have a infrared light on its way for the roof of the cupboard though I will have to be careful to watch the air temperatures.

As you can see here I have another shelf above which I will place a sheet of wood on and fix up, though the whole space could do with a paint job I'm going to leave it for now as I don't want any lingering fumes.

I'm currently keeping the new scorpion in a separate tub with a mini heatmat I had left over from my reptiles til the cupboard is running smoothly to house specimens with no endangering of their lives, I'm kinda toying with the idea of buying deeper tubs to allow for the false bottom setups though, All in all I'm looking forward to just making it prettier with glass / clear acrylic as it's way more aesthetically pleasing for me at least Smile

I guess so, I feel as if they're too bare, I may work on some dried leaf litter soon, when I eventually get deeper glass containers il go for false bottom setups but I'd also like to introduce some sort of miniature stream / waterful effect, only issue is moisture and excess leading to parasites idk, if its anything like reptile keeping moisture remains the enemy haha, thanks though I'm hoping to make a really nice environment for them all as I further my experience and in turn collection.

Definitely enjoying my first specimen a lot too, not shy at all and stings almost everything it crosses, it's eaten 2 crickets so I'm gonna leave it for a while, got a lot of confidence for such a tiny creature though Smile

I was thinking when I have money to do such a project, I'd get a 55 gal tank with plenty of floor space and make a waterfall with a mini river. I'll make a natural looking backdrop too. Then I will fill the thing up with like 25 U. mordax Twisted Evil

Thought it'd be cool since you mentioned waterfalls.

It's so tiny:) very cute:), and the small ones are sometimes very feisty!!!

Anyway your scorpy looks great, and your project too, would indeed be careful with heat buildup in such an enclosed space so make sure you have sufficient ventilation.

Take care,

Joey

Thanks for the nice comments, I'm a bit of a neat freak so the cupboard will drive me insane until it's all rigged up correctly, I might introduce some sort of fan system through one side of the cupboard if ventilation may be an issue, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it, feels like Christmas with 3-5 parcels arriving per day lol

Update on the cupboard conversion:

My First Scorpion + Cupboard Conversion Project 483947_10151378884478657_629922988_n

Still awaiting a really long heat mat which will go the entire distance across the back of the cupboard, as well as the original slightly smaller one which will then go just above between the two shelves, really need to paint / cut away and tidy up the bottom though, right now it's filled with substrate buckets and parcel boxes lol
