Ideal Temperature for H. Laoticus / Thermometer Q. Empty
PostSubject: Ideal Temperature for H. Laoticus / Thermometer Q.   Ideal Temperature for H. Laoticus / Thermometer Q. Empty1/20/2011, 3:58 pm

Hello,

as some of you might know, I have recently took 2 H. Laoticus scorplings (2i).
I have read the Emp/Heterometrus caresheet and also tried to find info on other sites about the correct temperature for this species.

The guy I bought these from, said the extreme low/high ends are 20-27ºC, however in some sites they mention 21-28ºC and 21-30ºC, while the caresheet here says 80-90ºF. which would be 27-32ºC

So what temperature should I aim at keeping, and what is the absolute maximum and minimum which I should never exceed?

Also, had anyone used the digital thermometers and hygrometers from ExoTerra? Those seem to be the only digital ones I can find here and I was wondering if they would be worth the investment.

Thanks Bex, that was fast.
I usually keep the aircon at 23-24, and this seems to raise the temp inside the enclosures to around 26-27. So I guess I won't fry them.
I've been paranoing that I'll kill them by letting the temp go over 27.

If you're concerned about temperature extremes, set up a gradient in you tank. Put all your heat sources at one end and offer a variety of hiding spots in all locations. Your scorp will choose the ideal temperature.
