Juvenile Steatoda paykulliana, aka the Mediterranean False Widow, for sale. £10 each.

Having successfully bred Steatoda paykulliana in captivity I now have a small number of 3-5mm juvenile specimens for sale. The young Steatoda paykulliana are about 60 days old and are unsexed at this stage. The adults are stunning looking spiders that are extremely easy to keep. I may do a deal if more than two specimens are required. The juveniles are all feeding well on small crickets. The adults are fed on crickets during the winter, but during the summer I feed them mainly on bluebottle flies that enter my house.

The original breeding pair were both from separate cases of accidental imports from Spain, hidden amidst imported fruit. Steatoda paykulliana should not be confused with any of the Steatoda species we have established in the UK. This species is not found anywhere in the wild in Britain.
