New Tarantula

hello

I bought a tarantula at petco today

its a curly hair tarantula

Brachypelma albopilosum

its not mature yet and I don't know if its male or female

its between 2 and 3 inches

I don't have a picture yet

Congrats got my first T today!!!!

you're lucky to have it. my first T was a B. albo, i bought her last year measuring 3.5 inches and after 6 months she's now 6 inches in leg span hehe. quite a pet rock

does anyone know what I can make a hide out of ?

the hides at petco are too big

I tried to use half a cup but the tarantula keeps knocking it over

A really small flower pot half buried should do.

Either that or a small half log hide, it that's too big you could always cut it to the correct size.

I used some pottery, of some kind, which I bought at a gardening centre, and got the hamer out. Smashed it and made the pieces into a hide

usually the cork bark at petco is flat but I found a piece that's like a cave

why does your B. albo look like a B. vagans to me?

its been pretty active so far

the set up is pretty basic

its a pastic kritter keeper

with dirt filling most of it so the tarantula cant climb and get hurt falling

and there is a round piece of cork bark in there to hide

I don't have a water dish cuase the tarantula isn't that big yet

I might be able to get a picture but the tarantula and the set up but the tarantula is on lid right now so I don't wanna open it to disturb it

its been hanging out up in the corner of the lid
