Wanted to update this thread a little... Today I got my new exo terra!! I think it's a great looking, well built tank, which has been designed with much care and knowledge.
I was so enthusiastic I wanted to post some pictures... the quality is not very good because of poor lighting so please excuse me, but wanted to share anyway:) I'll post better pictures soon!
The interior isn't that elaborate, but I kept in mind my little girl is a bulldozer. So I want her to settle in first, so she can redecorate lol
After a while, I will add more forresty thingy's
I am sooo exiteeeeddddd!!!!!
take care now,
Joey

Looks awesome Shakudo!! Nice species, more active and aggressive than emperors in my experience. The reddish black is hard to capture in pics.

Today I finished the tank. It's an Exo Terra mini wide 30x30x30 *12x12x12 inch*. I made the background shorter so the digging surface is bigger. I caught her this morning destroying part of my background so I took care of that;) Now she can dig and dig. I put in a catappa leaf, just because I think it looks nice!
I build in the exo terra combi thermo and hydrometer, it has a probe and digital output , so very handy and no sticky things in the tank. Now the set is complete, and I must say I am very happy with it:) I made some extra pics and video's.
Enjoy:)

She finally made a burrow under the log down to the bottom of the tank, and stopped tearing up the place:) so I finished her tank... I am very happy with the endresult!

Small update. She is settling in good. After going bulldozer on me, in the spots where the sensor and cable is buried, I corrected it. Then, she decides to go and sit between the screen top and the background.
After I made a pre dug little hole under her log, she seemed to get the hint, and burrowed there. Now, she has made a nice unground iglo and sits there most of the day, so now I look and see a pet terrarium lol. That's why I spent a lot of time making it look nice, because I new once she is settled in, she will become a bit more reclusive and I wanted to look at something nice haha.
She hasn't been eating though this whole week and I am going to try again tomorrow. I put I n a grasshopper this night but she ignored it I think. I think the stress and change of the situations the past two weeks are responsible for her going off feed. I hope that with peace and quiet the situation will rectify itself.
She is now displaying more " normal " and typical behavior for her species I think. She sits in the opening of her burrow , claws open. Sometimes she takes a walk and then heads back.
Love seeing her out, but also very happy she made her burrow and remains there most of the time. That is her natural way and I hope it means she approves of her accommodation.
Hope to make some more pictured soon.
Take care everyone,
Joey

1 and a half weeks later. I now officially have a pet hole. I ordered an exo terra rainforest heat wave mat which can be placed on to the back of the tank. Not the bottom, because she has dug quite a long tunnel, but it goes on the entire backside of the tank to provide some extra heat during the night very handy because it sticks like a sticker.
She hasn't eaten yet and ignores the grasshopper even if I hold it in front of her. I'm going to try again tonight.

That has to be the most flamboyant scorpion enclosure I've ever seen. It looks great though.
Personally, I'd leave her be for a week or so and then try feeding her again.
A question. How much heat is getting through the background? I'm thinking of making some fake rock backgrounds out of celotex insulating foam, but I was worried that this would block the heat coming from a mat on the back of the enclosure.

Thanks !! haha, my theme is red, because it's a red claw. The lighting is a red sunglo the orchids are red and the white flowers have red centers. The bark on top of the substrate is orangy/reddish lol. and it was fun to make. And look forward on doing it again in the future.
You are probably right about the feeding.
I haven't gotten the mat yet. When I do I will compare the min/max temperatures and let you know.
Well, I read up on your material, and it's heat conductivity is very poor.
Most foams are used for insulation to keep warmth in or out. Therefore, I would think that you are right in thinking it wouldn't allow much heat to pass through.
My background is made from polystyreen which is also an insulator. So I don't think it will raise the temperature much, which in my case is fine, I am just looking to increase it by perhaps 2/3 degrees C.
If you want to make such a background I would recommend placing the mat on the side of the tank instead of the back.
But you must decide whether or not you want to make it look like that. The downside is the constant visibility of the mat of course. But that is something you would want to take in consideration.

When she actively forages for food I will offer again. I think she is still settling in, hasn't eaten yet. She can catch it;) very quick little scorp. She is mostly digging and... digging.... and ... doing some interior decorating I think;)
She dug a new entrance tunnel today, she and I have come to a new mutual understanding I think;) The tunnel is really neatly next to the log and doesn't make anything collapse;) We both read IKEA btw;) No lol only me:P
Take care,
Joe
