| I was looking pics of people's different vivariums and I saw a few things I liked. They were talking about various large tropical forest species and the talk of an aquatic scorpion came about. Then I saw a post about an Emperor Scorpion tank with a pool. Here it is, if you're interested - also, for credit's purposes. I was under the impression Emperors could drown easily, yet I've been reading that some will 'soak' to prepare for a molt. Any truth? Any thoughts? | |

| It is commonly accepted that Emps do like to "soak" in their water dish/pool for extended periods. | |

| Emps will sometimes submerge themselves completely for extended periods of time. I have heard of some Pandinus and Heterometrus sp staying submerged for over half an hour. I've seen my own emp stay submerged for almost 20 minutes once. This is due to that scorpions have the ability to close their spiracles. (If you're unfamiliar, scorpions breathe by taking in air through eight opening under their body called spiracles, which then has the oxygen pulled out of it once it gets to the book lungs). | |
