| Hey everyone, new to the hobby here. Just wondering what color lights (or type) would be fine to keep on a scorp? I was thinking either blue or red CFL lights? Any thoughts? | |

| Thanks!
Isn't there a safe spectrum that doesn't bother them?

| UV light / black light. scorpions don't seem to suffer any ill effect of the UV light and don't react to the UV light at all. try it, it will give you another surprise! believe me. | |

| There are many similar topics on this forum regarding lighting. Please read through them for more information. I will go into this briefly though.
The only light you should use on scorpions regularly is an infrared heat lamp.
Prolonged exposure to ultraviolet or "blacklights" can be harmful to scorpions. It's fine for brief periods of time for pictures and what not, but don't use it everyday.
Normal florescent lights are out of the question.

| It might be subjective. Some scorpion does react to black light (e.g. shy away and hide) and some scorpions simply couldn't care less and does not seems to be bothered by it (e.g. staying stationary like as if posing for a shot) I have experienced both. I guess, it depends on specimens to specimens. It is not advisable for prolonged exposure for scorpions to be under black light, e.g. 24/7 exposure. Occasional viewing under black light e.g. few mins per day is basically harmless | |
