Tank or terrarium? Empty
PostSubject: Tank or terrarium?   Tank or terrarium? Empty7/11/2012, 3:00 pm

Hi all,

Had three H. Laoticus a week or two ago, now i got about 20 - 25 of them! found out wich one is the female ^^
I housed the two males in a 30x30x30 ExoTerra terrarium so they wouldnt hurt the babies. - Normaly my red millipedes live in there, now they are in a little smaller box.
She is housed in my 60x30x30 akvastabil terrarium, so she and her babies got enough room.
Now i guess i need a new home for them, as they will get bigger! Wink
Dont know what would be the best choice for my scorps, a tank or a terrarium?
I Learn more towards the tank, due to the lower prices, and that i can make a false bottom and still put in a really big layer of peat in it. But my biggest concern with the tank is the ventilation.
But i got good experience with the terrariums, though there isnt verry much room for peat. And they cost alot of money! - Never tried with a tank before.

I hope some of you can help me with this "problem" Smile

Just make a mesh lid for the tank and it would be the exact same thing as a exoterra.

All my scorp enclosures are top ventilation and I only keep desert species and I have never had mycosis on them. So it should be fine.

I prefer tanks that I can choose how much or little ventilation holes to use, problem with mesh lids is its harder to keep humidity up.

Then decrease the amount of space the mesh takes up.

yup easily done with some cling film.
But I still prefer to drill my own air holes or install my own vents Very Happy
