My Androctonus mauritanicus- some useless tidbits by Thaedion...

Well it has been 5 weeks since My A. mauritanicus arrived and of the three...

I'm almost 25% sure the largest one is a female...

last week the smallest one moulted...

and the middle one burrowed... twice...

That is the tid bit I find strange... I formed excavator clay into small scrapes in each tank. I made a smalll depression and capped it off with a piece of slate, then buried it over with more clay and let dry and harden. well the one scorp dug itself closed (he dug so much that the opening was covered over. I then took a spoon and reopened the opening and within 12 hours he did it again... weird.

No distinguished notch... female or too young to tell? I'm not sure if the sexual dimorphism comes with age.
She is the pudge who ate the worm... mezcal...


Moult pieces part... I tried to get it out of the back of the scrape but it was waaaay tooo dry , that is the last two tail segments and telson

Well the second of the three just moulted, so now I have 2 exuvium (one pretty broken up: will do a tooth count on that one, and the other is complete: no knotch [but will also do a tooth count any way, they have little pectin]) From a casual observation it seems I have three females. but the one may still be too young to sex.

here is a scan of the two... pretty bad but still a scan...

that exo's a male. Their pectines will touch and the notch on chela will show on last moult which is 7th instar. How big is he now?

I somehow missed that picture before I left for Texas.

I'm secretly hoping you have all females so there's a better excuse for us to do an exchange.
