PM'd I'm in for this game which will undoubtedly leave me feeling inferior but hopefully teach me a thing or two.

It's all for the "fun" of it. I myself will not be able to ID all scorpions. It's based on luck at times, there are always some species which are shared between hobbyist or have a higher visibility on the internet.
