Superworms as feeders? Empty
PostSubject: Re: Superworms as feeders?   Superworms as feeders? Empty5/23/2008, 7:09 pm

Quick question.

I'm looking into getting an emp soon, and I raise super worms to feed to my Chinese Water Dragon. I end up having a surplus of adults, or beetles. Could an adult emp feed on these beetles?

For reference, this is wiki's super worm article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_worm

You can even use the superworm. I would put them on a dish. Emps would eat the beatles but expect a lot of clean up.

I've actually never known scorpions to feed on the adults; they're generally less palatable (though I have seen bearded dragons eat the adult beetles). As Eddy said, the worms themselves are fine, and a dish will prevent burrowing.

It should be noted that mealworms and superworms are on the fatty side when compared to other feeders -- for long-term I'd suggest crickets or cockroaches.

i give my scorp a super every now and then as a variety in diet, but as long term your scorp could end up chubby. although ive read a few articles that scorps aren't affected by obesity.it doesnt look pretty, though.

I actually take a superworm by feeding tongs then place it in front of the Emperor. The Emperor always grabs it then begins munching away on it.
