| Thanks! Yeah, I looked around a bit and asked others who had owned a few and she is likely a P. cavimanus. But that's ok. All that means is I now have two females of these and one or both might be gravid. Time to go on the hunt for a male. | |

| The things to look for between a female cav and an emp isn't necessarily the color but the shape of the chelae and how smooth they are. It's kinda hard to tell since i've had red colored emperors that look identical to that, to me it has the chelae of an emperor from the roughness and how the back of the chelae curve back into themselves like an emperor and unlike a cav. Though I'll only be certain once it pops and your offspring reach about 4i so I can see if they have the cavi chelae indent which indicates male. | |
